What are Veneers?
Veneers are often described as being a bit like a false fingernail, covering up the front surface of a tooth. They are custom-made to fit exactly over the tooth, helping to improve overall aesthetics in a way that is very non-invasive, as we only need to remove a minimal amount of tooth material or in some cases nothing at all. You may choose to have multiple veneers as part of a smile makeover, or you might only need one or two. Veneers are often used in conjunction with other treatments such as tooth whitening and crowns and bridges, or after completing orthodontics to help perfect a newly straightened smile.
What is the Difference Between Porcelain Veneers and Composite Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are hand-crafted in our dental laboratory from very thin slips of porcelain, a process that normally takes a couple of weeks. Composite resin veneers are applied directly to the teeth and treatment can be completed in just one visit. Porcelain veneers do cost a little more, but they will last longer and will not discolour. Both can provide excellent results and we can discuss which option might best suit your circumstances during your consultation.
