3 tips to make dental injections hurt less
At SmileBright Dental we are continuing to set a standard in dentistry the exceeds your expectations, by providing dental treatment where patient care is our top priority.
Most people find being numbed up at the dentist a painful experience, but there are 3 ways to make the local anaesthetic injection hurt a little less.
1) At SmileBright Dental we always use topical anaesthetic (or numbing gel) before injecting any local anaethetic. Even if you do not come to SmileBright Dental, ask your dentist to apply the numbing gel as it will pre-numb the area before the injection goes in.
2) Relaxation techniques: Taking deep breaths and relaxing your body before a procedure can help reduce stress and discomfort during the procedure. It is important to take breaths during the injection as your body won’t detect anything as being wrong if you are breathing normally.
3) Close your eyes, some patients unfortunately look at the syringe before it goes into your gums. At SmileBright Dental we do our best to make sure our injections are discrete but you may find comfort in not seeing it as you will be telling your brain to expect pain.
It is always important to let your medical professionals know of any fear or concerns you may have, even if you think it may be small. We want you to enjoy your experience from your first visit up until we see you again.
