If you wish to replace upper back teeth, you may require a sinus lift which is a type of bone graft. A sinus lift will add bone to areas where it is deficient, so there is plenty of bone to support your dental implants. This procedure is very straightforward and we will make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed during treatment.

Why Might I Need a Sinus Graft?

This is because your upper teeth are located near to the sinus cavities, which are air filled spaces either side of your nose. After your teeth are removed, it is normal for some bone resorption to occur, and the jawbone in this area is often thinner and less able to support dental implants, and sinus cavities can get bigger as we age.

What is the Procedure for a Sinus Graft?

A small window is cut into the jawbone near to your sinus cavities, exposing the membrane in between your jawbone and the sinus cavities. This membrane is ‘lifted’ upwards, creating a space that can be packed with bone grafting material. Afterwards, the bone graft will generally need to heal and integrate with your jawbone before your dental implants can be placed.
