In his private life, Dr Chang has a deep love of traveling, music, and miniature painting. He often visits Japan, where he enjoys visiting the hot springs and ski mountains, as well as partaking in cuisine and culture. Dr Nelson Lee

Dr Nelson Lee, Dentist

Dr Nelson Lee grew up in Brisbane and graduated from the University of Queensland with a PhD in Medicine, before graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dentistry. Once also a patient of SmileBright Dental, Dr Lee is now a general dentist who has been with the practice for over ten years, upholding and believing in its principals of preventative care. He sees the importance of clear and thorough communication with patients to form a lifelong connection of trust. Laughter can always be heard from Dr Lee’s room as he mixes dental education with witty humour and charm.

Dr Lee is a long-time supporter of a variety of charity organisations which include the Leukemia Foundation, the Queensland Cancer Foundation, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, and the Red Cross. On top of charity, Dr Lee is enthusiastic about photography, especially architectural photography of the different places he travels to. He sees architectural photography as an extension of his dentistry, where not only function is crucial, but also the aesthetic aspects of it, making it seamlessly complement its surroundings. Every photo and tooth is an opportunity to reflect upon function and form to bring out the most out of a person or place.

Dr Yoon Lee, Dentist

Dr Yoon Lee attended Griffith University, graduating with a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science with a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry.  As a general dentist, Dr. Yoon enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in implant, restorative, and pediatric dentistry, as well as periodontal health. Dr Yoon seeks to continually challenge himself and push his limits, regularly reading medical journal articles to further his knowledge, especially on the topic of periodontal disease. When treating a patient, he takes a holistic approach, not just seeing the single teeth, but the entire body, as oral problems, can impact the body too. As a native Korean speaker, Dr. Yoon always kindly assists our staff in translating.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Yoon partakes in an extensive list of musical and athletic hobbies. Since watching Roger Federer in 2005, he is an avid fan and player of tennis, stating that “Federer is as graceful as a ballerina on the court”. He now competes at his local Korean tennis club, once winning a bag of rice (25Kg). Other than tennis he often goes to the gym too. Musically, Dr Yoon is adept at the guitar, often caught playing at SmileBright Dental, as well as the violin and ocarina. Dr Yoon seeks to master and finesse all manner of skills, especially his primary field of dentistry.

Dr Henry Wu, Dentist

Dr Henry Wu was born and raised on the Gold Coast and graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours). Dr Henry is a general dentist, with a particular focus on preventative care and patient education. His favourite part of being a dentist is making sure each visit is as comfortable as possible, so his patients come out of the room with a smile. Dr Henry approaches dentistry like puzzle, problem-solving one step at a time in order to fulfil patient goals and provide them with greater health outcomes. He believes that quality is better than quantity and that every job should be done properly, even if it takes longer.

In his free time, Dr Henry often travels overseas, especially to Japan, stating he is a bit of a ramen lover. He enjoys Japanese pop culture, manga, and anime, often taking inspiration from lessons from these mediums, such as determination and fighting for morals. Dr Henry also enjoys spending time with family and friends, often playing cooperative online games with them. Teamwork, he believes is also fundamental in dentistry, where working with the patients and fellow dentists is crucial for improving both treatment outcomes, and one’s own skills.

Dr Ankita, Dentist

Dr Ankita Patel achieved her dental degree internationally in India, before settling down locally near SmileBright Dental. In her childhood, Dr Ankita was inspired to become a dentist after receiving a root canal on a sore tooth. This experience taught her that in dentistry it was crucial to take care of a patient’s mindset and views, not just their teeth. It also taught her the importance of putting small and constant effort into one’s teeth in order to avoid larger treatments. She is a large advocator for regular dentist check-ups and cleans in order to maintain steady oral health. Dr. Anikita provides personalized care and attention so she can help her patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental care.

During off days Dr Ankita likes to go on hiking trips to challenge herself physically and mentally. Similar to her dental philosophy, she believes even if a hike is difficult, the beautiful view atop the mountain, makes the climb worth it. Diligent efforts and patience are needed in order to see optimal results. Other than hiking, Dr Ankita finds herself reading books, with a particular interest in history, and self-improvement.
